About Us

The Historic West Bottoms Business District Association is the organization dedicated to continued revival of our most historical area in downtown in Kansas City, Missouri. Our association is committed to making the West Bottoms a compelling place to live, work, play and visit in the region. The Historic West Bottoms Business District Association, working hand in hand with property owners, creates forums for communication and involvement by a diverse group of Historic West Bottoms investors, including local development corporations, residents, young professionals and business stakeholders. By facilitating the collaboration of these groups, The Historic West Bottoms Business District Association strives to enhance the quality of life in the Historic West Bottoms by implementing initiatives for continued improvement in safety, cleanliness, economic development assistance, marketing & special events, advocacy and strategic projects.

We protect this investment with increased security patrols, community involvement and business partnerships. Because of this commitment we are PROUD to say that the Historic West Bottoms has the LOWEST crime rate in KC.

Historic West Bottoms Security

​We are PROUD to say that the Historic West Bottoms has the LOWEST CRIME RATE in Kansas City!
The Historic West Bottoms Security LLC was created by Full Moon Productions, Group Real Estate, CFM and Quality Roofing. This group of local businesses committed to safety and crime prevention, hired off duty police officers to patrol the West Bottoms. Since the program began, crime in the Historic West Bottoms District has gone down 50-75% each month from the month before.

The KCPD partnered with the CIDA/ West Bottoms Business District Association, West Bottoms Security and the Metropolitan Community Service Program (MCSP) on a project to remove environmental disorders and illegal dump sites in the area. This project helped to improve communication between the police and associations in reporting crime, suspicious activity and addressing crime while doing so with high visibility.

With this partnership, they:
Removed:
  • 718 bags of trash (14,360lbs)
  • 286 tires
  • 30,300lbs of illegal/large items
  • Graffiti
  • Approximately 70,000 lbs of illegally dumped materials
  • 6 abandoned trailers full of tires from under the Inner City Viaduct.
Built:
  • A natural rock spillway to prevent washout that was dangerous to motorists.
While this unique program is sustained by a minority of the Historic West Bottoms businesses the benefits are enjoyed by all. New partners are added every year and the amount of off duty police coverage increases as funds become available.
The Historic West Bottoms Security Patrol program includes:
  • Off-duty uniformed and armed Kansas City, MO police officers
  • Patrols 6 nights a week from 9:30pm-4:30am
  • 1 day shift Monday-Friday
  • 1 day shift on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Answering alarm signals to verify false alarms or action required responses. These officers have the ability to reset your alarm if permission is on file. This reduces unnecessary calls to members in the middle of the night.
  • Patrol visits each member’s location a minimum of 7+ times each shift, often more.
  • Ability to stop or pursue suspicious persons or vehicles to inquire of their reason for being in the area.  Can make arrests when warranted.
  • Responds only to paying members of the patrol.  Regular on-duty officers handle all other situations
  • Ability to be first response to alarm signals to verify false alarms or if action is required.  These officers have the ability to reset your alarm if permission is on file. This reduces unnecessary calls to members in the middle of the night.
  • Billed monthly based on total number of paying members.  The more members, the lower the rate.
You can join the Historic  West Bottoms Security Patrol any time during the year. The current monthly fee is $300.60 a month with a one time initiation and administration fee of $300.60. Email us for a membership application and mail to:
